THE DEVIL'S TRIANGLE
Having heard about the world famous brothels in Old San Juan ~ the gigantic fortress city built by the Spaniards in the 1500s, I asked where the best whores could be found.
Told to check-out The Black Angus Nightclub by an old man at a still open corner newspaper stand, I walked down to the harbor and was not disappointed.
Upon entering the establishment, there were men sitting all around smoking big cigars and sassy sirens parading in front of them almost totally naked. Bada-Bing, Bada-Bing!
Choosing a stool at the bar with a great sight-line, I downed a couple of Chivas to ease my embarrassment, before selecting and negotiating a purchase.
No different than buying meat in a butcher shop when the steaks all look appetizing, lamentably it’s no different than choosing a woman for 15 minutes.
Lasciviously attracted to a beautiful 30’ish Italian lady named Gina Lolo Cantina dressed in a tight leopard dress, it was to be $25 very well spent ~ as soon was I.
Asking me at the bar if I would like to dance after our tryst, I said that I hated dancing and she confirmed that her steppin’ took place out on the streets.
Eager to learn what she was talking about, we had a couple more cocktails and headed up the hill towards a plaza in front of the old cathedral, where some very talented musicians usually gathered to play salsa and merengue.
Relaxed by the warm Caribbean breeze, I was very much into enjoying Gina Lolo Cantina and the Chivas on my last night in Puerto Rico.
Drink in hand, I would spend the next three hours until five in the morning pretending that I knew these intricate Latin dances.
Stumbling quite often on the 500-year-old cobblestones, I had the time of my life feeling so free, so grown-up at 18 years old (sure, Al!) and momentarily proud of my Puerto Rican roots.
Having succeeded in not playing mind games with my father and Sally, he grudgingly drove me to the airport where he tried to give me a hug and the usual kiss on the cheek as we were accustomed to, but I ducked my head and stuck my paw out.
It would be many weeks before he would try to again make contact.
Adios, Puerto Rico and hello a New Year 1970 in San Francisco!
Pray to The Holy Spirit constantly and simply from your heart, just as earnestly as He was your very best friend.
+ Divine Intimacy ~ He is!
