"WHITE WEDDING DAY"
As Billy Idol rebel-yelled, “it was a nice day to start again” ~ a new life for both of us.
Even though Sandy and I were both happy living with our respective families, we were eager to carve out our own life together, buy a house and travel the globe.
Sandy already wanting for us to have children at such an early age, I told her that we were children ourselves and that we should wait until our mid-20’s to start a family.
Upon Sandy graduating from Mercy Roman Catholic High School in May of 1970, she refrained from going to college and started working full-time for the San Francisco Port Authority, earning very good money and socking it away for furnishing our new home the following year.
Even though skilled at the art of stacking citrus & apple pyramids and color coding the entire produce department, I was transferred to another Safeway in downtown Pacifica Beach because of my recalcitrant behavior.
Encountering a new Produce Manager that thought he was Hitler, I knew that my days were numbered in this "Safeway" concentration camp atmosphere.
My Mom being offered a better paying job at QFI ~ a supermarket on steroids, refused the opportunity due to her loyalty to Safeway and not wanting to lose her 10 year seniority.
Understanding my predicament in being transferred, she gave me the name of the store manager that reached out for her.
Calling Mr. Cantucco that very same day ~ no relation to “The Sperm Brothers”, he invited me to fill-out an application as soon as possible; due to there being an immediate opening in their produce department, because some idiot got fired for inappropriately grabbing a lady customer on the sales floor.
